Terms of use.

These terms are written in plain language. They explain how people may use the JoST website and what the journal expects of contributors.

Anyone can read and download papers without an account. Signing in is needed to rate papers, review, respond to reviews, or submit work.

• Each person may have one account. A person can link several sign-in methods to the same account.
• Reviewers and authors must use their real identity and a verified ORCID iD.
• People are responsible for activity on their own account.

Contributions must be about the work. Reviews, comments, and responses should address what a paper claims and how well it supports those claims.

• No abuse, harassment, or threats.
• No ad hominem attacks. Criticize the work, not the person.
• No spam, advertising, or off-topic posts.
• No impersonation and no undisclosed conflicts of interest.

Editors may hide content that breaks these rules, and may suspend or ban accounts. Decisions can be appealed to the editors.

Papers are published under the journal's terms: copyright JoST, licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0.

Reviews, ratings, comments, and author responses are published openly on the site with the contributor's name. By contributing, people agree that their contribution is shown publicly as part of the journal's record.

Authors confirm that they have the right to submit their work and that it follows the journal's research integrity policy.

JoST provides the site as it is. The journal works to keep it accurate and available but cannot promise it will always be error-free or online. Papers and reviews present their authors' views. They are not the journal's endorsement, and they are not professional advice.

JoST may update these terms. The current version is always on this page. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
